The IAV is a multidisciplinary polytechnic centre hosting several schools: Agronomy, Veterinary school, Agro-food industry, Horticulture, Topography and Rural engineering.

Created in 1968, the “Institut Agronomique et Vétérinaire Hassan II” (IAV) is a multidisciplinary polytechnic centre hosting several schools: Agronomy, Veterinary school, Agro-food industry, Horticulture, Topography and Rural engineering.

IAV is offering engineering, veterinary medicine, master and Phd graduation diploma. About 2000 students are enrolled, from which 10% are from foreign countries. IAV hosts 320 scientists and faculty members and 180 Technical staff - in 22 departments hosting different laboratories.

Most of IAV scientists are graduated from foreign institutions and involved in multidisciplinary international networks and collaborative research programs. In addition a large number of research-development projects are implemented in partnerships with European, African, and Mediterranean countries. Participation to the FPs (European programs), H2020, ARIMNet and PRIMA and mobility calls is a long tradition for in IAV.


Research Activity

The team of researchers involved in Medberry, are members of the Department of Production, Protection and Plant Biotechnology within both units of Genetics and Plant Biotechnology as well as Plant Protection.

These both units are active relatively to their involvement in national and international projects that are addressing the axes of research to enhance genetics and plant breeding as well as pest management aspects in both arable and horticultural crops in regards to the challenges at the national agricultural context as well as the international context basically in the Mediterranean region.
