Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Horticulture
Started to work in 1996-1998 at University of Çukurova Faculty of Agriculture Department of Horticulture as a Research Assistant. During 1998-2000 years worked as visiting scientist in Israel Ministry of Agriculture Volcani Center Research Institute. During 2004-2005 period worked at Turkish Ministry of Agricultre Adana Biological Control Research 2005-continued to work at University of Çukurova Faculty of Agriculture Department of Horticulture as a Senior Lecturer and Researcher.
University of Çukurova (UCU) has been established in 1973 and has 17 faculties, 5 Colleges, 12 Vocational Schools, 1 State Conservatory, 3 Institutes and 25 Research and Application Centers. The Agricultural Faculty has nearly 300 academic staff including 103 professors,The faculty has ten departments (Agricultural Machinery, Animal Science, Farm Structures and Irrigation, Field Crops, Food Engineering, Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, Plant Protection, Agricultural Economics and Soil Science).
The goals of the horticulture department is to generate information and skill through research directed to the horticultural problems of the region and the country. It is provided with equipment and infrastructure and lab facilities especially on plant biotechnology, physiology, post-harvest issues.
Research Activity
N. Ebru Kafkas established modern extraction and enstrumental analysis labs on plant phsiology and fruit metabolomics. She has 4 GC equipped with different detectors such as MS, FID, NPD, ECD’s for aroma, fatty acids and pesticide residue analysis and headspace equipment particularly for aroma, essential oil analysis. She has also 1 HPLC and 1 UFLC equipped with different detectors such as UV, DAD, RID, FL’s.
In addition, she has recently established tissue culture lab and she has good also collaboration with Professor Salih Kafkas who has molecular biology and genetic labs.
